Living Fossils - Your Faith Dictates Your Explanation
July 31, 2017
The articled linked to the image below discusses living fossils. According to the article, "living fossils" was a term created by Darwin that "look just like their ancestors of millions of years ago". Darwins explanation was, "they occupied small parts of the world, escaping competition, and therefore did not change". These are animals that have changed little to none over the supposed millions of years. The example given in the article is the Sphenodon or Tuatara. The article states, "Tuataras are not lizards, although they share a common ancestor from about 240 million years ago, and have survived as an independent evolutionary line for all that time". The study states, "the tuatara has shown very slow evolution, as expected, and importantly, its anatomy is very conservative".
In other words, microbes to man evolution evolves organisms unless it doesn't, providing a very convenient way to have it both ways. How you define "living fossils" depends more on faith than science. Evolutionists believe in millions of years and life spontaneously being created and becoming more complex. The "living fossil" contradicts this belief so they must create a solution. Their solution is that the organism is perfectly adapted so no change is needed. This doesn't make sense. Surely there are improvements that could have been made over the supposed millions of years as the environment, climate, food sources, predators, etc was changing.
The Biblical Creationist takes a very concrete stand and hasn't invented solutions so they can have it both ways. Organisms can change, but that change is limited based on genetic information created in the original Kind. No new genetic information has ever been created by mutations to change apes to man, dinos to birds, or fish to lizards.
