Today the debate rages on regarding affordable health insurance and the coverage of pre-existing conditions. If it were not for pre-existing conditions, the solution would be simple so what is at the root of the issue? Most pre-existing conditions are caused by mutations in our genetic code that results in a certain diseases or disorders. According to the below linked article, about 1 in 4 people have some sort of pre-existing condition. Other studies have shown that 1 in 2 people have a pre-existing condition. We live in a time where technology is allowing us to discover more and more of these genetic defects.
This brings us to the root problem that will become more and more difficult to solve. Observable science shows that each generation has more mutations than the last and so each generation's genome has decayed just a little bit more than their parents. We can expect that genetic disease and disorders will become more and more common as more and more generations come and go. This means pre-existing conditions will become more and more common. With more disease, more money will be needed to treat those diseases. The amount of money it will take to treat everyone will spiral out of control and will be unsustainable. We are actually seeing this materialize today! Healthcare is now viewed as a fundamental right by many today, but the reality is that it cannot be a right because it cannot be paid for. The goal for quality healthcare for all is a noble one, but mathematically it is not possible to fulfill over the medium and long term. Over the next 50 years, trying to provide healthcare to everyone may very well be the reason the United States goes bankrupt. Pre-existing conditions caused by mutations are simply a by-product of the decaying world we live in.
This of course flies in the face of evolution, which would say that we humans are improving genetically. If this were the case, then we would see a trend of decreasing healthcare costs, but once again we see evolution for the lie that it is based on observation and fact.
No matter how bad our health gets, we should remember that God originally created us perfect, free from these mutations that cause pre-existing conditions. It was only through our rejection of Him that we began to decay. However, through Christ, we will have all of our genetic defects fixed by the greatest of all healthcare providers - God - and the price is free. And this is good news!
