28 Years of E. Coli Bacteria Experiment - Still A Bacteria
September 8, 2016
The article linked below gives us an update on the E. Coli Bacteria Long-Term Evolution Experiment. The purpose of the experiment is to compare the genetics of many generations of bacteria to see what changes have occurred. This experiment is often hailed as proof of evolution. The article states, "They sequenced the entire genomes, or genetic code, of the bacteria to pinpoint the genes with beneficial mutations that gave the bacteria a competitive edge over their ancestors".
When you read this article, they use observable science to confirm that micro evolution or adaptation does occur! What this experiment hasn't demonstrated is that mutations create new and functional genetic information. This is what is required for macro evolution! The strains of bacteria today have the same genes as the original bacteria back in 1988. If a new gene had been created or new sections of DNA had been built, then I would be a believer in evolution, but that is not what has happened. If it did, the article titled would read something like - "65th Generation Acquires New Gene That 1st Didn't Have!". You will never see this headline because mutations don't create new information.
This experiment is used deceptively and only demonstrates adaptation. A hundred years from now there still won't be any new genetic information created - only changes made to the original information.
The title of this article says it all - "Still changing after all these years" - And the genome will continue to change, but no new information will be added and the organism will always be a bacteria.
Tour the links in the "More" section of this site to learn more about why evolution is not true and the observable science points towards a perfect original creation by God.
