So what causes this condition? Yup, mutations in genes! This article details 4 gene mutations that play a part in the condition of schizophrenia.
How can this condition be cured? If you or someone you care about has this condition, I'm sure it is a point of stress and anxiety in your life. If there is a God, why would he do this to you or your loved one? When we find ourselves asking this question about schizophrenia, or any other disease for that matter, we must remind ourselves that God's original creation didn't have any of these problems. It was only when Adam and Eve cut off the direct relationship with God that things began to deteriorate and mutations in our genome are evidence of that. So it is man's sin, behavior and choices that inflicted us with these problems, not God. But there is good news! For those who accept Jesus as the sacrifice for their sin, God will forgive and restore your genome to perfection in heaven. So it will be difficult now to deal with these types of genetic conditions, but rest assured it will be fixed by the great engineer in the end.
A bit more on the sacrifice of Christ. I think most people don't really know what that means. I'm no minister or theologian, but this is my take.. God is just and a sin against Him and His Laws require justice to be done. For example, if someone committed a crime and the judge let that person go without penalty, that would be injustice. So for all the sins we have committed against God, we deserve punishment. The Bible says we all deserve death for those sins. Yes that seems harsh, but we can't possibly comprehend the goodness of God and so any amount of sin can't be tolerated. Because he is loves his creation, he provided a method for justice through the death of Christ - who is God and is as good as God, thus providing a just and sufficient punishment for our sins. For example, if someone burnt your house down and the judge awarded you $10, that wouldn't be sufficient. You would need something more for justice to be done. Only the death of Christ was sufficient to cover the damage of our sin. No amount of doing good can make up for the sin, you could never do enough, but God can declare those who accept Jesus' sacrifice as guiltless. Christ is our substitute for the punishment we deserve. If you accept Christ, then he will intercede for you at the time of judgement. If Christ doesn't know you he will not intercede for you and God will deliver the punishment you deserve for the sins in your life.
What does "accept" Christ mean anyway? The standard line is "to have faith that Christ was the Son of God, died for your sins, and defeated death by rising". And that is true, but doing this means a pursuit to know God more closely. Reading the Bible, attending church, and living out Biblical Principles are all byproducts of true acceptance of Christ.
